Changes to the requirements for smoke detectors can be a little confusing. we've put atogether a brief explanation of the changes below, but if you still have questions just give us a call and we'll gladly help you out.
Changes to the Fire Safety Regulation make it a legal requirement to upgrade your smoke detectors. The changes are a positive step forward and they will not only keep your family safer, but also decrease false alarms and get rid of those annoying battery chirps! To break down the changes: 1. The sensor has been changed from an ionisation type to a far superior photoelectric sensor. The photoelectric sensor has far less false alarms 2. All smoke detectors must be connected to each other, we call this "intercnnection", It means that if one alarm goes off, they will all go off. This sounds bad at first, but if you think about it your family will be much safer for it. 3. The locations where smoke detectors are required has increased. The main change is that smoke detectors are now required in each bedroom. 4. Hardwired with 9V battery back up OR 10 Year lithium battery alarms are allowed. We offer a full service where we will can remove your old smoke alarms and install new ones in all the locations that are required to keep your family safe and comply with the law. Call us today.
